Listen here.
I appeared on the Futureproof radio show last weekend to discuss my book Automation and Utopia. It's a relatively short interview (19 mins), and so only touches on a couple of themes and ideas from the book. Still, it's a decent intro to some of the key concepts. You can listen at the link above.
Here are some links to things mentioned in the interview . Some obvious corrections: the Luddites were followers of Ned Ludd (who may not have existed), not Thomas Ludd; and Abraham Flexner's paper was titled 'The Usefulness of Useless Research' not, as I said, 'The Value of Valueless Research'.
- Bertrand Russell 'In Praise of Idleness'
- Abraham Flexner 'The Usefulness of Useless Knowledge'
- Crowley and Doran 'Automation and Irish Towns: Who's most at risk?'
